Know Who You Are

Know Who You Are

Our Inspiring person of the month is Claudia Hanin, a dynamic young entrepreneur I met a few years ago in South Africa. She is my hairdresser and a friend. Like me, she is a mother, a wife, an entrepreneur and an active citizen. She is such an inspiration and has a passion for God, children, hair and her family. She knows who she is through Jesus and invites everyone to do the same : Know who you are. Claudia is opening up her world to http://www.newmoi.org

Eva Arissani: Tell us more about you. Who is Claudia Hanin?

My name is Claudia, as you know (LOL). I am 40 years old, happily married and mother to 3 kids. I am the owner of NINO’S COIFFURE (hair salon), THE VALLEY OF ACOR ( hair products) and the founder of ZOE PSALMS 23( NGO).

Eva Arissani: What is your passion and how did you discover it?

I am passionate about hair Eva. I love taking care of natural Afro hair. I discovered it when I was 20 years old. During my first job interview my friends advised me to wear a wig because they said, it would look more professional. I did it but I felt very uncomfortable and did not feel confident at all. That day, I started thinking about hair and what I could do to make a positive contribution. It is only in 2006 that I took a step forward and decided to learn everything about Afro hair. In my thirst for knowledge, I went to a great deal of countries such as Brazil. You know Eva, I learned something important, whatever your dreams, you need to invest in yourself and keep on learning. That’s how you will be the best at what you do.

My source of inspiration comes from God. The bible says that it’s me your God who creates within you the desire and the will. Since I had that revelation I never went back.

Eva Arissani: How did you come up with the name Valley of Acor ?

It came from the Bible. While reading my bible, I was inspired to name my hair product THE VALLEY OF ACOR. As GOD promised JOSHUA THE VALLEY OF ACOR in the Bible. I started working on the products when I noticed that my mother was losing her hair 10 years ago. She was the first one to test the product on. Seeing the positive results, I was blessed to find more people willing to try them on and to give me their feedback.

Eva Arissani : You were very involved in outreach activities where you catered for orphans in Gabon. I know that, just like me, you are about to start an NGO in South Africa, please tell us more about that.

While I was in Gabon, I took care of an orphanage for 9 years. Here in South Africa it is a bit different because there are already a lot of orphanages. My NGO is going to assist existing orphanages. We will join forces to achieve positive results and improve the existing structures (we can provide play grounds, food, toys, clothes, etc…).

Eva Arissani: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I see myself preaching about the power of natural hair, telling women that the crown of a woman is her natural hair. I want women to be proud of their natural hair and to me, it goes hand in hand with their soul, their marriage and their children. It is a matter of identity.

Eva Arissani: Any advice for our readers?

My advice to women is to be proud of who they are. God never made a mistake when He created us. YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE IN JESUS. Thank you for this opportunity Eva.

Eva Arissani : Thank you for your uplifting and inspiring words Claudia.
