Is Your Environment Creating A Peaceful State Of Mind?

August is Women’s month in South Africa. It is time to celebrate our achievements and to reflect on the way forward. Sisters, a peaceful environment creates a peaceful state of mind. My question to you, as we move deeper into this new month is as follows :” Is Your Environment Creating A Peaceful State Of Mind?”

What do I mean by ‘environment’? I mean personal, work, spiritual and family environments. I believe that they are all interwoven and hence can influence one another. However, I also believe that family and personal environments are the most important ones as we all need to have a support system when our work environment becomes toxic and untenable.

Why is it crucial to have good personal and/or family environments? Let me give you a few reasons why I believe these 2 are important for you:

  1. To me, personal environment is my personal space, my sanity, I am not talking about spirituality. I am referring to my well-being, energy level, my relation to myself and so on. It is of utmost importance to nurture self-love, self-esteem, self-appreciation as it is the foundation of everything else. Think about it, if you think low of yourself, what will others think of you? If you do not appreciate yourself, you will be sending the wrong signals around you. If you do not love yourself, unconsciously you will not expect love in return and will tolerate behaviors from others that in reality are toxic and unacceptable. The thing is, it starts with you. I know what I am talking about and I know how difficult it can be. I was there, dearest sisters. I was there. Today, I am a new person and it changed my life. So I can tell you that it is possible. You are possible. Let me therefore ask you again : “Is Your Environment Creating A Peaceful State Of Mind?”
  2. Family environment, in my opinion, is a special place where one can be free. What do I mean by that? It is a place where one can unwind. It is a sacred place of laughter, happiness and trust. It is a place of safety and unconditional love. It is a place where if you fart in the living room, it will be seen as a joke with no negative reactions. LOL. Imagine if you farted at work…Hum. You would become the object of bad gossip. It is a place where you feel at peace. It is a place of refuge. Your family environment should be your haven. Now, once again : “Is Your Environment Creating A Peaceful State Of Mind?”

Based on the above, Is Your Environment Creating A Peaceful State Of Mind? If not, it means that you have some decisions to make and you have to take action to live the type of life you want and you truly deserve. I chose to discuss this topic this month because it is Women’s month and also because of all the true life stories I hear of women unhappy and feeling miserable because of toxic people surrounding them and ‘poisoning’ their environments. Sisters, enough is enough. For a long time I was scared and weak. For a long time I thought I was not good enough, I did not deserve love and did not deserve to be happy until God put quality people on my way, until I learned to do a loadshedding…LOL and got rid of people who did not deserve me. Now, I am a new person. I am here to tell you that you are possible. You too can live an incredible life. You too can meet someone who truly cares for you, who loves you with your scars, who loves you for you, who respects you, who is there for you in time of need, who supports you no matter what. God gave me a gift. My husband. My man. My soul mate. I asked and He listened. He not only listened, He answered my prayer.

Matthew 7 : 7-12 : Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened”

Sisters, this message is for you to take and to act upon. Whatever toxic people may have said to you, forget it. You deserve much more. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to have a haven. I do not believe in coincidences. If you read this post, it means that it is intended to you. I urge you to think about it and take action. For the last time : “Is Your Environment Creating A Peaceful State Of Mind?”

I would like to hear from you. Please share your story with us. Let us empower each other. Let us be Sister’s Keepers. Like this post, share it and let us send a message of hope.

Happy Women’s Month !
