Embrace Your Uniqueness And Live
To achieve togetherness, I believe that we first need to nurture our uniqueness. I am unique. You are unique. She is unique. He is unique. Is uniqueness a threat or a blessing? I think that it is a blessing because when we develop our uniqueness and accept to work together as a community, we are stronger. This October, Embrace Your Uniqueness And Live.
What I know for sure is the most valuable gift you can give yourself is the time to nurture the unique spirit that is you. Your life, just like mine, is unfolding according to your own truth.” – Oprah Winfrey, The Wisdom of Sundays: Life-Changing Insights from Super Soul Conversations
Here are 5 thought-provoking points that highlight why I think you need to Embrace Your Uniqueness And Live:
1- We are biologically, culturally, geographically different. Our birth circumstances are different. That said, it shows that our uniqueness is something inherent that has to be looked into. We are born different, however, that difference characterizes who we are to become and what makes a community greater.
2- Based on our uniqueness, each one of us has the potential to develop a personal blueprint that will be a starting point to build a strong and balanced human being. That personal blueprint is like a road map that will guide us on our life journey. It will be the foundation of our dreams, of the way we do things, of the way we approach things, of the way we show up in society and it will characterize our personal touch.
3- When we pretend to be someone we are not or when we try to fit in, we end burying our true self, we end up giving up what truly defines us, we end up denying ourselves an opportunity to give birth to who we truly are to be and in the process, we lose ourselves and lose sight of our true aspirations. We end up surviving instead of living.
4- Our uniqueness determines our way of loving. It determines our way of feeling. It determines our way of thinking. It determines our personality. It determines our attitude towards life and who we are among others…To sum up, it defines our whole being. Guys, it is OKAY to be YOU. It is OKAY to be UNIQUE.
5- Our uniqueness can make or break relationships. As a parent, have you ever thought of taking into account your child’s unique traits? As a spouse, have you ever considered that he or she might behave a certain way because of his or her unique way of looking at life? As a teacher, have you ever thought of approaching your students differently? Each one of them has a unique learning style. Getting to know them will definitely change your relationships for the best and it will improve grades. In a nutshell, being conscious of our uniqueness is of utmost importance. All of the power that you have and all of the strength that you have and all the ideas that you have are in or born in your uniqueness.” – Tyler Perry
I remember, when I was younger, I was scared of being me. I was always comparing myself to other girls and guess what? I always thought other girls were prettier than I was, smarter than I was. I was always following others even when I knew deep down that it was not the right thing to do. I used to think that my friends ideas were brighter than mine. I used to doubt myself and shut down my own ideas. I did not believe in my uniqueness until one day, I realized that I existed, until one day I felt the need to live and decided not to survive anymore. My life took a different turn, a healthier, happier, more excited one when I took the conscious decision to embrace my uniqueness and live.
