If we do not discipline ourselves, the world will do it for us. W Feather. This inspirational message on self-discipline highlights the importance of self-discipline in our multidimensional life. I have realized that self-discipline makes the difference between getting things done and living a stressful life. I would go further and say that self-discipline makes a difference between a peaceful life and a chaotic life. With self-discipline one can juggle professional, family and personal life.
As a married woman, mother of 3, blogger, author, speaker, facilitator and full-time language practitioner, I used to feel that I had too much on my plate. I used to stress about the work at hand and I used to feel that women had just too much to juggle. I was wondering how could professional women handle work pressure, personal and family life. I really struggled to find a balance although my husband gave me a hand. I realized later on that the problem was my lack of discipline and my ruling state of mind.
Whatever you believe in becomes your reality. Strong thoughts combined with strong feelings are a deadly combination. Very quickly that combination became my reality. I barely managed to cope with everything and felt psychologically and physically weak until I decided to snap out of that torturing physical /mental state.
What did I do ? I first acknowledged my problem. I then discussed the matter with my dearest friend and partner, my husband and together we found what was wrong. One needs to be surrounded by quality people who can tell you a truth about yourself and help you deal with a certain situation. I had to stop doing things at random. I had to be self-disciplined. In one of his videos, Bob Pronctor describes discipline as the ability to give yourself a command. If you want to get something more out of life, you need to take control of your life. It starts with disciplining yourself.
Self-discipline is one of the most important abilities one must observe to move forward in life. Without discipline, we do not have control over things that happen in our life. I know that we might not control every single thing that take place in our life but if we do our best to control the things we can control, we reduce the possibilities to become victims of the circumstances. In so doing, we send a strong message to the universe and use the abilities God endowed us with to move forward. I believe that not taking control of our life would be like rejecting what God has put inside of us.
If you are feeling overwhelmed and overworked, it might be that you need to work on your self-discipline. Do you start working on one thing and get onto something else without having completed the previous task ? I find that completing one task at the time – either at home or at work – helps me tremendously. We tend to think that we can handle many things at the same time. We can indeed but our productivity is reduced in the process.
This is what works for me : Jot down every single thing I want to do on a specific day; Balance personal, family and professional life; Handle one thing at the time and most importantly complete each thing; Have some time to rest and Assess myself at the end of the day.
I hope this inspirational message on self-discipline makes a difference in your daily tasks. You can improve the quality of your life by improving your abilities to balance your multidimensional life. You can unleash your true potential. You have a power within you.
I wish you an awesome day and a super week!
